Louie Hammond Ward
Louie Hammond Ward, 76, of Paris, entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at Medical City of Dallas. Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. on Monday, June 9, at Fry-Gibbs Chapel with Bro. Harley Stripland and Rev. Ray Evers officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetary. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home on Sunday, June 8. He was born on January 21, 1932 to Charlie Ward and Lula Crutchfield Ward. He was a self-employed hay hauler and scrap iron and metal worker. He worked until he became sick on May 14, 2007. He attended Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lula Ward; daughter, Cynthia Ward; brothers, Charles "Buddy" Ward, John Ward, Bill Ward; sisters, Dorothy Herron, Estelle Merritt, Edna Annie Ward; grandchildren, Chris Ward and Christa Ward. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Smith Ward, whom he married on November 12, 1955; sons, Johnny Ward and wife, Vickie, of Paris, Stevie Don Ward and wife, Tammy, of Roxton; daughter, Betty Ann Todd and husband, Dean, of Paris; grandchildren, Amanda Ward, Angela Ward, Johnny "Bubba" Ward, Jeremy Todd, Jennifer Rhodes, Sarah Todd, Cody Don Ward, Danny Ray Emeyabbi; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Eulalia Lee Walker, of Paris; half-sister, Myrtle Townsend, of Paris; and several nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Jones, Robert Prince, Don Cato, Gary Thompson, Gary Don Ward and Dennis Ward.
