Barnes, Rt. 2, Paris, died Thursday, Jan. 20, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, in the Paris Church of God with burial in Union Grove Cemetery by Gene Roden's Sons, Directors of Funerals. Mr. Barnes was born June 12, 1931, in the High community, a son of Ed and Lelia Kindle Barnes. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He married Mattie Virginia Barnwell on Sept. 2, 1950, in Texarkana, Ark. He was retired from the U. S. Postal Service. Surviving are his wife; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Charles and Elaine Barnes of Plano; Michael and Clara Barnes of Paris; Thomas and Tammi Barnes of Paris and Timothy Barnes of Paris; a brother, Bill Barnes of Benbrook; a sister, Mrs. R. C. Rutherford of Riverside, Calif. and three grandchildren, Patrick, Jason and Deborah Barnes. Pallbearers were O'Neal Barnwell, Bill Barnwell, J. W. Barnwell, Charles Wright, C. A. Jones, Ge'onna Rogers and Bill Winfrey.' Tombstone is inscribed, 'A1C US Air Force, Korea.'
