Note: n., April 19 in boating accident at Lake Crook. According to Paris Fire Dept., Vernon Alfred 'Buck' Walker, was discovered missing by a friend identified as Russell Holland, early Sat. morn. They had gone to check trot lines. Holland said he returned after checking his lines, he noticed Walker's boat circling in the middle of the lake. Fire Department personnel and Holland dragged the area and discovered Walker's body about 10 a.m. Saturday. Services for Walker held Tues., April 2, at Fry and Gibbs. Born in Paris, son of Addison and Annie Walker. Attended Paris schools and married Eulalia Luman. Worked for Merico Co. for 9 years in its maintenance department. Surviving are his wife; 2 daughters, Vickey Luman of Paris and Mrs. Wes 'Mickey' Holden of Grand Saline; 1 son, the Rev. Ricky Luman of Childersberg, AL; 1 grandson, Micheal Holden of AL., his mother, Annie Walker of Paris; 2 sisters, Mollie Avance of Paris and Vina Wells of Hudson Falls, NY; 2 brothers, Donnie Walker of Paris and Bobby Walker of Denison."THE PARIS NEWS, Wednesday, 23 Apr 1986: "Walker funeral - Funeral services for Alfred Vernon (Buck) Walker, 2751 Bonham St., were conducted Tuesday in Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. O. D. Robertson and the Rev. Joe Blackshear officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Bearers were Fred Cole, Randy Todd, Billy Kee, Gary Thompson, G.W. Rhoades and Jerry Smallwood.
