a. Note:   mer on December 1, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Abshire and Sis. Linda Dean officiating. Interment followed at the Garden of Memories in Jonesboro, Louisiana. Family and friends were received at the funeral home prior to the services beginning at 9:00 a.m. Mrs. Miles was born on August 16, 1931, to parents, James Mart Alexander and Minnie Delitha Bell Alexander in Quitman, Louisiana. She entered into rest November 28, 2012, following a long illness.
  Mrs. Miles graduated from McNeese College in Lake Charles. She was an educator in the teaching of Library, English, and Speech; she also wrote and directed many plays. She was a loving and devoted wife and spent sixty-three years in the ministry with her husband, Dr. Clyde Derwood Miles. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, using her talent in music as a songwriter, pianist, and vocalist.
  Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Albert, Ellis, Adriel, and Earl; four sisters, Cassie Barlow, Nassie Batson, Joy Dean Alexander, and Tennie Ingram.
  She is survived by her husband and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
  Dr. Miles would like to offer thanks to Dr. Clifton Salmon, the Presbyterian Village, Regional Hospice, and Debbie and Melvin Compton for their loving care.
  Pallbearers were Charlie Clark, Gary Daniels, Larry Dean, Al Gray, Ralph Jordon, and Doug Miles.
