Note: llness. He was born November 13, 1943, in Houston, TX, to Walter Wallace Leamons, Sr. and Mary Ethel (Honey) Leamons. He grew up in Junction, graduated from Junction High School and attended the University of Texas. Ray served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966-1969. While stationed in Korea, he received training in air traffic control which prepared him for his 26-year career at Houston Intercontinental Airport as an Air Traffic Controller. Ray and Linda Ann Cook were married on April 6, 1972. Ray's favorite place to be was always Junction. After his retirement in 1996, he made frequent trips to his little “ranch” there and visited with many of his former classmates and friends. It was his center point and place of peace. Ray is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda Cook Leamons, the son he was so proud of, Travis Kimble Leamons, his brothers, John D. Leamons and wife Frankie, Walter W. Leamons, Jr. and wife Stella, sisters, Mary F. Borskey, Lola F. Paine and husband Hank, Mae Leamons, Patsy Ann Rendon and husband Clifton, and Boudreaux, the big green parrot he adopted. Interment services with Military Honors will be held at the Houston National Cemetery on September 10, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kimble County Historical Museum, the Wounded Warrior Project or the charity of your choice.
