He married Doris Nell Blalock, daughter of Charles Loyd Blalock and Lou Allie Brown, on June 28, 1957 in Center, Texas. Their children are Kathy Lou (Hattaway) and Gregory Frank Hennigan. Leslie died in an automobile accident 12 miles north of Krotz Springs, Louisiana.
