Note: Nellie Ethel Horton December 15, 1921 - May 11, 2019
Mrs. Nellie Horton, age 97 of Jonesboro, went to her heavenly home Saturday, May 11, 2019. She was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother. She was a retired nurse and an avid gardener that did not miss an opportunity to be in the yard working with her flowers. She loved to cook for her family. If she knew that you loved it, then it would be there for you to eat. She will be fondly remembered for her cheesecake and chicken dressing.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Reggie Horton, Wayne Horton (Sharon); 9 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 38 great-great grandchildren; 7 great-great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmon Lee Horton; daughter, Doris Ann Wingert; great grandchildren, Lana Marie Cross, Eric Cowart; sister, Mae Horton; brother, Daniel Anderson; daughter in law, Dorothy Lee Horton.
Friends may visit with the family Tuesday, May 14, 2019 from 5:00-8:00PM at Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Southern Funeral Home Chapel at 10:30AM with Bro. Randy Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery under the direction of Southern-Edmonds Funeral Home.
Serving as pall bearers will be her grandsons, D.J. Bowers, Johnathon Bowers, Cody Hinton, Dusty Hinton, Max Horton, Del Horton, Michael Horton, Scotty Lane.
