a. Note:   y, March 22, 2014 following a brief illness. Reverend Finch was pastor of Clay United Methodist Church. He served as a volunteer for Kairos Prison Ministry, Epiphany Prison Ministry, Walk to Emmaus and Grace Camps. He was an enthusiastic citizen of Lincoln Parish for many years. He saw every encounter as an opportunity to share the love of Jesus Christ. Friends may visit with the family 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, March 24, 2014 at Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Tuesday at Trinity Methodist Church in Ruston with Reverend Jerry Hilbun officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery on Driskill Mountain under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Reverend Finch is survived his wife, Edie Finch of Simsboro; daughters, Jessica Butler and husband Dexter of Simsboro, Courtney Finch of Simsboro; son, John Thornhill of TN; step-children, Shelby Holland and wife Janette of Castor, Mindy Bryant of Simsboro; sister, Theresa Finch of San Antonio, TX; aunt, Penny Dirago of San Antonio, TX; 7 grandchildren, Tyler, Haylie, Dakota, Destiney, Hayley, Britany and Eli; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Mary (Launius) Finch; first wife, Debra Finch. Pallbearers will be Dexter Butler, Bryan Roberts, John Kavanaugh, Perry Anderson and Craig Williams.
 John passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014.
 John was a resident of Simsboro, Louisiana at the time of his passing.
 He was married to Edie.
