Mrs. Mary Viola Varner, age 85 formerly of Eros, died Monday, November 26, 2012 at Oak Woods Home for the Elderly in Mer Rouge following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Varner was a homemaker, a native of Jackson Parish and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she was the pianist for over thirty years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many. Friends may visit with the family 5:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church near Eros. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Reverends Randy Hartwell, Jerry Fleming and Brian Rankin officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Varner is survived by a daughter, Kaye Baugh and husband Norman of Eros; son, Marty Varner and wife Sherry of Columbia; grandchildren, Brian Baugh, Sarah Overturf and husband Danny, Melanie Mullenix and husband Kevin, Shawna Baugh, Jason Varner and wife Kristy; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Vester Neal of San Antonio, TX, DeLoy Neal and Ray Neal both of Alexander, AR; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Mrs. Varner was preceded in death by; parents, Arthur Edward Neal and Erma Eliza (Hughes) Neal; husband of 53 years Max Varner; brother, Elton Neal; sister, Katherine Noah. Pallbearers will be Brian Baugh, Jason Varner, Danny Overturf, Jacob Overturf, Chelcia Ray Neal and Kevin Mullenix.
