Lorene McDonald Toon Share
0 Lorene, age 91, of Longview, Texas, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2009. Lorene was born on June 8, 1918, in Delta County, Texas. She was the tenth child of Will and Lou McDonald. She attended Posey Grammar and Middle School.
In 1941, she moved to Dallas, Texas and worked at a battery plant for airplanes. After the war she went to work for Dallas Embroidery Company for many years.
Lorene married the late Robert C. Toon. Mr. and Mrs. Toon resided in Longview, until their deaths.
Lorene was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 140 for 28 years. She held many offices including President. She was also a member of the East Texas Salon 364 2/40 for 25 years.
Lorene is survived by sons, Ronnie Toon, and his wife Fay of Longview, Texas and Joe Toon of Lake Tawakoni, Texas; as well as two nieces, Claudette St. Clair and Luada Trent both of Arlington, Texas.
Services will be held today, September 5, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Chapel of Peace Mausoleum. Pastor Wayne Spanhanks will be officiating.
Donations, if desired, may be made to American Legion Auxiliary Unit 140 or the American Cancer Society or to the Charity of your choice.
