Note: Jason Ellis McWhirter (April 24, 1974 - May 2, 2011) Jason Ellis McWhirter, 37 Jason Ellis McWhirter, 37, went to be with his Lord and loving extended family on May 2, 2011 in La Luz. His passing was peaceful, with his family and DeeBee the dog by his side. He was born on April24, 1974 in Alamogordo and was the son of Richard and Caylis McWhirter, who own One Stop Auto where he was employed for many years. Jason's interests in life were computers, movies, guitars, his cats, bowling, and his pride and joy - a 1969 classic truck which his dad restored for him as an ongoing labor of love. Although Jason had many health problems in his life, he was always able to bounce back and keep going. His core group of loyal and compassionate friends was very important to him and blessed him greatly. His final battle was with cancer, and it caused him the loss of a leg, but after a determined adjustment he got back to his life again. Finally God said it was enough and called him home. His simple faith in God and the assurance that he would be in heaven kept him going during the hardest of times. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Faye and Jim McWhirter of Bent, New Mexico and Catherine and Ellis Bilbo of Alamogordo. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at First Assembly Worship Center. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to Alamogordo Home Health and Hospice, 1859 Indian Wells Road or Kitty City, 56 Danley Ranch Road in Alamogordo. The McWhirter family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
