Note: Jack David "J.D." Odom Funeral services celebrating the life of Jack David "J.D." Odom will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Beulah Baptist Church, Cheneyville with Brother Kenneth Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery, Cheneyville.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria Friday, July 10, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and continued Saturday at the Church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Mr. Odom, 83, of Alexandria, passed from this life on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Grace Home.
Mr. Odom was a long time member of Beulah Baptist Church, Cheneyville. He was very proud of being a United States Air Force veteran having served in the Korean War from 1950-1954. Mr. Odom enjoyed playing fast pitch softball in high school, the military, and afterward. He discovered golf in his later years and enjoyed that very much as well. He loved spending time with his family and friends, gardening and making a living working as a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, D.C. "Jack" and Eva Moon Odom; brother, Richard George Odom and sister, Margaret Odom Girlinghouse.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 57 years, Jeanette Odom; son, Jack David Odom, Jr. and wife, Angela; daughters, Vicki Odom Thibeaux and husband, Paul and Pamela Odom Walls; grandchildren, Tyler David Walls, Samuel Thomas Walls and Joel Benjamin Walls.
