a. Note:   According to Pittsburg County records held at the Pitsburg County Historical Society in McAlester, OK, James Williams was originally buried in McNally Cemetary, NE of Canadian, OK but when Lake Eufaula was to be made, the Army Corps of Engineers relocated the cemetary to Red Oak Cemetary in Canadian, OK just south of the Canadian Masonic Cemetary. According to Louise Patterson, James Thomas Williams was a freight depot agent at Butlers Sawmill near Antlers, Oklahoma. After he became unable to work his wife Zilpha Ellen ran a ferry on Gains Creek at Canadian, Oklahoma, and their sons farmed there. According to the 1900 Census it lists James occupation as Farmer and also says that he and both his parents were born in Alabama. In researching the Williams and the Palmers I found they lived only one home apart and came from Alabama.
