Notes
a. Note:   Raised grandson Lee Owen Langwell and nephew George Jones. Also raised nephew Steven Lee Bryant who later took the Williams name and his sister Lucy Bryant. Violeeta Jordan remembers George Jones walked real straight and never drove. Violeeta said that Elsie was very selfish and had favorites with her kids and drank hot tea. Elsie was a sister to Sarah Kayia, the mother of Steven Lee (Bryant) Williams. According to her obituary, Zelpha Ellen Hilard came to Indian Territory from Missouri in 1902. She moved from McAlester to Dustin in 1912 and had lived there until her death. Elsie received pension from her son Isaac's death. Elsie had Alzheimers and wandered off and they found her dead. Louise remembers: My memories of Aunt Zilpha: I visited Zilpha when I was young. I do remember her always making me a lunch of sardines and crackers and of course she always served me tea. She had a big black Ford, I think, touring car and they traveled quite a bit. I remember that she had a big library table in her living room that held a large display of rocks. She would point out each rock to me and tell me where she had collected it. I do remember some were from the Grand Canyon in AZ and I was so impressed since we didn't even have a car at that time during the depression. She also had a lovely dinning room with a beautiful glass corner cabinet full of beautiful things to my child eyes and she would let me look as long as I didn't open and touch the things. My mother was very fond of her Aunt Zilpha and she was so sad the day they came to our farm to visit, just before Z. passed away. She didn't recogonize Mom , but she didn't want to get in the car to go home and got really angry at Jackson when he insisted and called him a few choice words. My mother was shocked and I remember her saying, " That was so sad to hear, Aunt Zilpha was such a good Christian woman." Soon after that she passed away.
