  Mar 13, 1862, John entered the Civil War as a Private for the Confederacy for a period of 3 years. On Oct 25, 1862 appointed as Corporal. Jan 2, 1863 was wouned and taken prisoner at Stones River near battle at Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
  Confederate Roll of Prisoners of War at Camp Douglas dated Mar 31, 1863 says captured at Crab Orchard on Oct 10, 1862.
  Furloughed 60 days Aug 31, 1864 destination Tuscaloosa, Alabama
  Aug 4, 1864 admitted to General Hospital, Howard's Grove, Richmond, Virginia.
  Muster Roll for Jan and Feb 1865 says absent due to being wounded and in Meridian, Mississippi at camp for Disabled Invalid Soldiers
