Notes
a. Note:   Skip was diagnosed with diabetes at 9 years old. When I met him he had been working two jobs and not eating right. He lived on Mountain Dew, Snickers candy bars and cigarettes. He also had a sore on his foot caused by steel toed boots that were defective. That sore started his dececent. From that time, he pretty much always had a sore somewhere on his feet. Eventually, the neuropathy caused absolutely no feeling at all. About a year before he passed away, he stepped on a nail and it went way into his foot, since he couldn't feel his feet, he didn't know what time during the day he stepped on the nail. It was not discovered till that evening when he removed his shoes and his sock was bloody. Eventually the sores on his feet caused him to have two different toe amputations. Because he had no feeling in his feet, he never felt anything during the amputations. He also became a very brittle diabetic. It was so bad that there was an ambulance at the house 2-3 times a week. Also, about 3 years before his death, he had to go on peritonial dialysis at home due to kidney failure due to the diabetes. After that he started getting infections in his peritonial cavity. He spent a lot of time in and out of the hospital. Even though he had all this going on, he continued to work until about 9 months before his death. He was a hard worker and loved his job. He enjoyed being a machinist
