Opal (Henry) Duren, 84, died Monday at Mitchell Manor Convalescent Center in McAlester. Services were today at 10am at Chaney's Funeral Chapel with Dr. Burrel McNaught officiating. Interment was at Memory Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Chaney's Funeral Home of McAlester. Pallbearers were great grandsons and friends, Lloyd Young, Carl Ogden and Richard Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers were Lefoy Lowery and Denton Mackey.
Mrs. Duren was born September 10, 1907 in Fort Worth, Texas and had been employed as a seamstress. She was a member of the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Herbert and Melva Henry of Kiowa; one daughter, Billie Jo Cox of McAlester; four granddaughters, Wanda Schwarz and husband Tony of McAlester, Pam Craft and husband Kenneth of Anchorage, Alaska, Christy Santino and husband Joe of McAlester, and Celia Rasmussen and husband Phillip of Houston, Texas, and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Duren was preceded in death by her husbnds, William L. Henry and Jim Duren; one sister, Eva Gipson, and two brothers, Carl Richardson and Blache Richardson. (MillieBelle)
