Note: George Peter Sheets was born in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania on January 17, 1774. Peter was baptized on March 20, 1774 at Boehm`s Evangelical Reformed Church in Bluebell, Pennsylvania. His sponsors were Peter Bock and wife (Mary Magdalena Schuetz Bock). Peter moved from the Pennsylvania colony to Augusta County, Virginia with his parents while he was a young boy. Peter married Catherine Eakle. Catherine was born on August 28, 1774 in Washington County, Maryland. Reverend Paul Henkel married them on March 3, 1796 in Augusta County, Virginia. Catherine was the daughter of Christian Eakle (Ekel) who died in 1802 in Washington County, Maryland. In their marriage record, Christian is listed as being German. In 1809, Peter received 142 acres of land from his father and farmed in Augusta County, Virginia for the rest of his life. In 1842, Peter sold 157 ½ acres of land to his son Peter Jr. Peter and Catherine spent their entire lives living in Augusta County, Virginia where raised six children. Peter was listed in the following census and tax records. He is listed in the 1800 tax list Augusta County, Virginia with one male over 21 and 2 horses. Peter and Mary were listed in the census records of 1810, 1820, 1830, and 1840 living in Augusta County, Virginia. In the 1850 census records of Augusta County, Virginia, Peter is living with his son Peter and is listed as George P. Sheets. In 1870 son Peter Jr claims that mother was born in Maryland and father born in Pennsylvania. Peter died on July 7, 1850 in Augusta County, Virginia and Catherine died prior to 1850 in Virginia. I do not know where Peter or Catherine are buried.
