a. Note:   John Sheetz was a farmer and the postmaster for Carsonville, PA, for eight years, and also ra n the general store in Carsonville. He was very popular, as well as a prosperous businessma n in the vacinity; owned 126 acres of land in Wayne Twp., and 1100 acres of timberland in Cen tre county, PA. He was a school director, and auditor of Jefferson Twp., both for three years , as well as a Democrat, and a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. This information wa s found in the Commemorative Biographical Encyclopedia of Dauphin Co., PA, 1896, by Run k & Co., publishers., pg. 757. He is also named as a s/o William Sheetz earlier in the articl e. In 1914 he and his 2nd wife Agnes were godparents at the christening of their great neice , Arlene Sarah Hoffman. At the time John and Agnes's address was Elizabethville, PA. This inf ormation is written down in Arlene (Hoffman) Lyter's "baby book" by her mother at the event o f her baptism. According to descendant Bob Sheetz, of Oscala, FL, who supplied John's death d ate, he notes that John was buried in the Maple Grove cemetery, located in Elizabethville . A photo exists of his tombstone.
