Note: John is named as a son of father George Sheetz in his will dated August 12, 1822. He is als o believed to have served in the military. According to EGLE'S NOTES and QUERIES, Series 3, V OL. I, page 7, John is listed on a "Roll of the First Company, First Battalion, Ninety-eigh t Regiment, Sixth Division, of the Penna. Militia" for the year 1837. On the company roll h e is listed as a private, and noted as being 37 years old. (This would also coincide w/his es timated birth year of 1800.) A "possible" birth date was located in the extracted records fou nd at David's Reformed Church. John's father's name is spelled Scheif, but could actually b e "Schitz or Sheetz". Abraham Schora was the single sponsor.
