Tuesday morning Mrs. Delilah Hoopes, one of the oldest residents of Alliance died at her home on North Walnut avenue from an illness due to her age, which was almost 80 years.
She was born near Green Village, Columbiana county and came to near Alliance when she was about 15 years of age and has resided here ever since. In 1853 she was married to Enos Hoopes, and to that union was born five children, two of whom are deceased, and the following survive: Joseph of Allegheny, Mrs. John Josh of Lexington road, and James who resides at home. There are also four grandchildren, Mrs. Charles Klinger, Elton Josh, of Alliance, James, Jr., Edna, and Marie of Allegheny.
In early life the deceased was baptized in the Christian church, and had continued steadfast in that faith until her death. She had lived in the house in which Death found her for 43 years.
The funeral will be held from the house Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. Nichols of the Christian church. Interment at the Alliance cemetery.
