  Sheets/Davidson family bio shows War of 1812 pension file dated 24 Jul 1854 Delila Sheets aged 54 of Vigo Co., IN. widow of Jacob Sheets private under Col. Koontz in 1812 Harrisonburgh VA. Delila & Jacob m 24 Feb 1820 in Rockingham Co. VA., witness Wm Davidson, Silas White, Jane Ann Harrison sister to Delila; John B. Sheets, D. Gossett, Joseph Sheets (present at marriage), J. P. Hutchenson. Affadavit in file shows that on the 24 Jul 1855 Delilah Sheets appeared in Vigo Co. Indiana for the purpose of obtaining a widows pension for Jacob's service in the war of 1812. She was 54 years old and a resident of Vigo, Co. Jacob was a private in the company commanded by Wm. Harrison in the Regiment of Virginia Militia commanded by Col. Koontz. He enlisted in September of 1814 and was discharged at Camp Bottoms bridge in January of 1815., she married Jacob on 24 Februar 1820 and her maiden name was Delila Bright. Also aff of Jane A. Harrison who was sister of Delilah Bright and wife of Benjamin Harrison.

  Deeds and Land records of Rockingham Co., VA show Jacob and Delilah sold land to Daniel Flook. Copy of Delila Bright Sheets application for Land Bounty for Jacob's service in the War of 1812. Sworn statements from, Wm. Davidson, Silas White, Jane A. Harrison. Jacob also served in Capt. Harrison's Co. Virginia Militia from 29 Aug 1814 to 27 Oct 1814 and from 16 Nov to 30 Nov 1814 and discharged Jan 1815. Listed on Trueheart's Va. Militia.
