Note:   , W.Va., died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Mount Airy. Born Jan. 24, 1919, in Baldwin, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William Blair and Della Blanche Ford Kirkpatrick. Married twice, she was predeceased by her first husband Frederick Paul Furr and is survived by her second husband, James D. Smith Sr. She was a homemaker. In her early days, she was a waitress at Conrad Restaurant in Glenville and at Hoopers Restaurant in Baltimore. She had also worked at Bendix in Baltimore. She was a member of Dawson Baptist Church in Glenville, W.Va., and was attending Mount Airy Full Gospel Church in Mount Airy. She was also a member of Mount Airy 55 Plus Senior Club and of the Rebecca Lodge 104 in Glenville, W.Va. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughter Cathy A. Shackelford of Troy, W.Va.; step-children James D. Smith Jr., Glendal Joe Smith, and Susan S. Atkinson, all of Troy, W.Va., Sharon E. Cason of Mount Airy, and Jeanette Dean of Burnsville, W.Va.; siblings Hazel G. Kirkpatrick of New Windsor and Ina A. Woodford of Glenville, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by son Michael Paul Furr; and four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held Thursday at Mount Airy Full Gospel Church, 13949 Penn Shop Road, Mount Airy, with the Revs. Thomas Gue and Wallace Lusk, of Mount Airy Full Gospel Church, officiating. Interment will be Saturday in Stalnaker Cemetery, Glenville, W.Va. There will be a service held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ellyson Mortuary Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, W.Va., with the Rev. William Hunt officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. until of time of service Saturday at Ellyson Mortuary Inc. Those desiring may make contributions to the charity of their choice. Arrangements are by Burrier-Queen Funeral Home.
