a. Note:   ville died Friday, April 18, 1997, at Charleston Area Medical Center. He was born in Gilmer County, a son of the late Gilbert R. and Audree Vance Furr. He retired as owner and operator of Furr's Motor Land, Glenville. He was a former member and past president of Grantsville Lions Club, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Grantsville Masonic Lodge, Nemesis Shrine Temple of Parkersburg and Glenville First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Lois Hughey Furr; two daughters, Alicia Ann Gower of Rangley, Colo., and Stephanie Dawn Furr of Glenville; three sons, Willard V. "Willie" Furr II of Clarksburg, Timothy Allen "Tim" Furr of Glenville and Nicholas Furr of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Richard Furr of Columbus; three sisters, Wilogene Shamblin of Akron, Rosalie Postlewaite of Spencer and Patricia Stacey of Fort Myers, Fla.; and one granddaughter. He was preceded in death by three brothers. Services were held at Glenville First Baptist Church, with Rev. Rick Perrine and Rev. Gary Knox officiating. Burial was in Marmet Cemetery, Kanawha County.
