Note: ar Ridge Nursing Center near Charleston. He was born in Clarksburg, a son of the Thella Miller Gainer of Spencer and the late Gilbert Furr Jr. He worked for W.Va. Department of Health and Human Resources, Kaiser Aluminum and Kellwood Co. and was self-employed in North Carolina for a while. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Spencer Presbyterian Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by three daughters, Tracie, Anissa and Tammy; one son, Chad; one brother, Gordon Gainer of Spencer; and five grandchildren. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Gainer. Memorial service will be later. Per his request, his body was cremated. Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. In his memory, a donation may be made to the charity of choice.
