a. Note:   Also known as Captain John. The church where John and his wife are buried is some 7-8 miles from Concord, NC and some 15 miles east of Davidson, NC. There is a family tradition that he was poisoned by a servant. Family Bible reportedly destroyed in a fire when son's, James Burton, home burned.
  On 2 January 1832, John Furr sold to Allison Furr 120 acres in Cabarrus County for $600 (Deed Book 11, page 414, LDS Film #463, 597).
  On 24 January 1833, John Furr and his wife and John Eagle and his wife sold to John H. Bost the old Daniel Boger place in Cabarrus County for $400 (Deed Book 11, page 506, LDS Film #463,597).
  On 10 July 1834, John Furr sold to Allison Furr 140 acres in Cabarrus County for $600 (Deed Book 14, page 81, LDS Film #463, 598).
  On 28 December 1835, John Furr sold the land previously belonging to his son, Henry N. Furr, to Archibald Blackwater for $400 (Deed Book 12, page 536, LDS Film #463, 598).
