Note: 1922 - 2013 Melvin E. Hall, 91, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away at Menorah Medical Center January 3, 2014. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at John Knox Kirk Presbyterian, 11430 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, followed by funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Children's Mercy Hospital, 2401 Gillham Road, Kansas City, MO 64108 or Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital, 2001 S. Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131. Melvin was born Feb. 27, 1922, in Kansas City, the sixth son of Norman and Ophelia Hall. He graduated from Wyandotte High School, Class of 1940 as a member of National Honor Society. He was employed at the Kansas City Quartermaster Corps until he entered the service in 1942. He served 37 months in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. Upon his return to Kansas City, he returned to his old job, until he transferred to the Internal Revenue Service. He retired from the IRS in 1977 as a member of management. He married Frances Benz on March 22, 1945. Melvin was a member and past president of the Kansas City Red Bridge Lions Club; a member of K.C. Lodge #220 A.F. & A.M. for over 50 years; Scottish Rite-Valley of Missouri for over 50 years; Ararat Temple for over 50 years; R.C. (Connie Burns, Post #71) American Legion; and a member of John Knox Presbyterian Kirk. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Glenn, Arthur, Claude, Norman, Jr. and Harold.
