Note: E. Parry Smith, died October 15, 2005, in Atlanta, GA, from complications of Parkinson's disease. Parry was born February 1, 1918, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Ernest P. and Anna Parry Smith, and was an East High graduate, class of 1935. He played clarinet and saxophone with the Les Copley Band in the 30's and jammed after hours in the 18th & Vine district with big band players. He was employed by Sinclair Oil, TWA & Atlantic Richfield, and in Atlanta with British Petroleum and OPEC. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Frear, of Centerville, KS; and by his daughter, Linda J. Smith in July 2005. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, Atlanta; daughters, Jan Rude, Overland Park, KS, Anna Thompson, North Augusta, SC; sister, Barbara Potter, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Erin Burpo, Sara Rude, Jacob Rude, Dalton Thompson; and two greatgrandchildren, Cody and Bryan Burpo, Virginia Beach, VA. His body will be cremated and no service is planned. Contributions suggested for Parkinson's Disease Research. Published in the Kansas City Star on 10/21/2005.
