  George was born 1759 in Bucks Co., Pennsylvania, and he moved when quite young to Augusta Co., Virginia. He also served in the War of 1812. He came to Ohio about 1806 and is found on the 1820 and 1830 Gallia Co. census. It has been reported that he died in Gallia Co. about 1835 and also that about 1838 he reportedly moved to Indiana with his son Joseph and died there.

  George Sheets was drafted in the Virginia Militia from Augusta Co., Virginia in 1777. He served under Capt. Arbuckle at Point Pleasant on the defense of the frontier. In Apr. 1778 he was drafted again under Capt. Lockbridge and marched to Donnelly Fort in Greenbrier Co., Virginia. In Aug. 1778 he served under Capt. McCuthcheon in the regiment commanded by Gen. McIntosh, Col. Boyers, and Maj. Anderson. They toured the Northwest Territory and went to Fort Lawrence. He served nine and one-half months. He applied for a pension 7 Nov 1834 in Gallia Co., and it was granted.
