a. Note:   Some show his name as Johann Friedrich Shitz. Two death records I've found show his name to be Frederick Shitz.
  Probate records dated 1809 list a grandfather for Frederick as a Leonard Miller. Some trees list Frederick's mother as Catharina Miller, so Leonard would then be Catharina's father. However, in his will Frederick states, "...to my mother Eve Shitz..." this could be explained by Catharina dying early in his life and Eve was a second wife to his father Frederick. Or, Eve and Catharina are the same woman and she went by the name Eve. Any clarification on this is greatly appreciated.
