I remember when I lived with Gram, Gramp and Dad on the second floor of Paul and Willie's house on Tivoly Ave. There was also Cupcake the dog. I remember when they got Cupcake. It was when they lived on Chester St. We had those canvas sling chairs and we always sat out front of the house. Paul came home with something in a box. He put the box in my lap, and there was a puppy. I was probably 6 or 7 at the time.
I remember going to Sears to buy a bike, and she walked all the way back home from Sears, so I could ride my bike home. I remember getting stopped in the park by the bandstand by some boys. Whoever was with me, ran home and got Gram. I can still picture her coming down the path towards us, and the boys running like heck. She was alway there for me, and I just couldn't understand why she had to die and leave me alone. She was my constant companion and I still think of her. Whenever I would get a sty, she would give me a hot teabag and put it on my eye with something wrapped around my head to keep it on. That usually worked. I got styes a lot when I was a kid.
