There was a 12 year difference in our ages, so I didn't become friends with the sister until we were older. It started when I was about 17 and lasted until she died. Up until her death and even after, she influenced my life greatly. After Aunt Bea died, Theresa took up the letter writing campaign. I was truly blessed with 2 angels in my life. She always knew the right thing to say to her baby sister. Even when she was dying, she kept up the front, and I had no idea that she was going to leave us so soon. Having cancer, we knew that it was inevitable, but she never let on to me that the time was so close. One of the last times I visited her, she was so postive and upbeat, and we even visited my step aunt. During that visit she showed me her china dolls that she had made. I told her that I wanted to buy one, so she told me to pick it out, and that she would mail it to me. Well, it seemed that I never managed to send her a check. Well, when she went home to be with the Lord, I flew up from TX for the funeral. After the funeral, her husband Doyle got me aside and told me to come with him and get the doll that I had picked out. She had told him to make sure I got it. That was just like her, making sure her baby sister was taken care of, even after she died. Theresa nows sits in my bedroom, watching out for me.
