  Dale E. Currie
 Dale E. Currie, 95, formerly of Shenango Township, died at 11 p.m. March 7, 2008, in Jameson Care Center.Mr. Currie was born March 31, 1912, in Scott Township to the late William and Anna Studebaker Currie.He was married to the former Frances Deemer for 72 years. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2005.Mr. Currie was a lifelong dairy and turkey farmer, and very well known for the two books he had written about McConnell`s Mill State Park. Mr. Currie was instrumental in the creation of the McConnell`s Mill State Park project.He was a member of East New Castle Grange, rural farm organizations and had twice been the master for the Lawrence County Pomona Grange. He also served on the Shenango Area School Board for six years.Mr. Currie was a lifelong member of Harmony Baptist Church, where he had taught Sunday school, served as a deacon and was a deacon emeritus.He is survived by two sons, William D. Currie of New Castle and Glenn E. Currie of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Patricia Gallagher of New Castle and Susan Boilard of Wallingford, Conn.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Currie, Guy Currie and Harold Currie; and his sisters, Hazel Adams, Daisy Currie and Allie Currie.Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Turner-Myers Funeral Home, 208 N. Jefferson St., and 10 to 11 a.m. tomorrow at Harmony Baptist Church.A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the church and will be officiated by his pastor, James Hockenberry.
