Shanango Twp resident Frances Currie, 89, of Currie Lane, died the morning of May 12, 2005 in Jameson Care Center.
Born Sept. 28, 1915 in Franklin Twp, Beaver County, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Ida Wiley Deemer.
She married Dale E. Currie in Cumberland MD on Aug. 28, 1933. He survives.
Mrs. Currie was a 64-year member of the East New Castle and Pomona Granges and lady assistant steward of the Pennsylvania State Grange.
She belonged to the Sweet Adelines singing group, served on the board of the Margaret Henry Home and was affiliated with Child Evangelism of Lawrence County.
Mrs. Currie was a member of Harmony Baptist church, where she was a deaconess, Sunday School teacher, and former choir director.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Patricia Gallagher of Pittsburgh and Susan Boilard of Wallingford, CT; two sons, William D. Currie of New Castle and Glenn E. Currie of Pittsburgh; four sisters, Betty Deemer Macioge, Ethel Mae Sorcio and Mary Lou Eonta, all of Ellwood City, and Nancy Lee Perschke of Grove City; a brother, Harold Koach in North Carolina; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceeded in death by four brothers, John Glenn Deemer, Harry Deemer, William Deemer, and Paul Edward Koach; and two sisters, Audrey McCann and Shirley Eichenberger.
A service will be conducted at 11am Monday May 15 at the church. The Rev. James Hockenberry of the church will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Baptist Cemetery.
