a. Note:   f 1850. After his death, McNairy Co., TN sets aside funds to aid his widow and children (1851). According to the obituary of his daughter, Mary Jane Perkins Tooke, he died from cholera onboard a riverboat between New Orleans and Memphis having been to California as a 49er. The same obituary states that his wife, Mary Jane Goff Perkins, and their children traveled to southern Missouri afterward at the urging of one of her older sons where they settled and she also succumbed to cholera in 1851.
  Their oldest child, Benjamin F. Perkins, was born December 14, 1828 in Giles Co., TN. He married Minerva Murphy in 1855, is in Tippah County, Mississippi by 1866 (MS Census) and by the 1880 Census is in Robertson Co., Texas. He dies March 17, 1907 in Haskell Co., Texas.
  Their next two children, John S. (or G.) Perkins born in 1833 and Rebecca Perkins, born in 1834, remain unaccounted for after the 1850 Census (McNairy Co. TN).
  Their fourth child, Sarah Ann Perkins, was born in 1835 in Giles Co., TN, is in New Madrid Co., MO in the 1860 Census married to Samuel Gibson and their oldest child, Frank, is listed as having been born in 1857 in MO. She married Henry Smith in Scott Co., MO on March 28, 1866 and dies after 1880 in Stoddard Co., MO.
  Their fifth child, Lucinda C. Perkins, was born in 1837 in TN married Henry Hurley in Hardin Co., TN and is living there in the 1860 Census. She dies about 1865.
  Their sixth child, Mary Jane Perkins, was born January 28, 1838 in TN, married William Tooke in Cape Girardeau Co., MO on July 8, 1858. She dies in Cape Girardeau, MO on June 9, 1931.
  Their seventh child, William A. Perkins, was born in 1840 in TN, is in McNairy Co., TN in the 1860 Census living with his first cousin Caldonia Perkins Winningham and her family. He is unaccounted for after this record.
  Their eighth child, Amanda E. Perkins, was born in 1841 in TN and married Henry Buesing in Cape Girardeau, MO on November 5, 1859. She dies in St. Louis, MO on May 23, 1883.
  Their ninth child, Francis C. Perkins, was born October 12, 1842 In Mississippi and married Winfield S. Ragan in Alcorn Co., MS on January 11, 1859. She is in Cooke Co., TX in the 1880 Census and dies November 20, 1897.
  Their tenth child, James C. Perkins, was born in 1843 in TN, is in McNairy Co., TN in the 1860 Census living with his Uncle Solomon M. Perkins. He marries Sarah Gipson in McNairy Co., TN on February 11, 1863, is listed in McNairy Co., TN in the 1870 Census with his wife and two children. He dies 1874 in McNairy Co., TN.
  Their eleventh child, Solomon E. Perkins, was born in April 1846 in McNairy Co., TN, is in McNairy Co., TN in the 1860 Census also living with his Uncle Solomon M. Perkins. He marries Nancy Elizbeth Wardlow on February 13, 1872 in McNairy Co., TN, is in Alcorn Co., MS in the 1900 Census where dies on Mary 12, 1914.
  Their twelfth child, Louisa C. Perkins, was born in 1848 in McNairy Co., TN and remains unaccounted for after the 1850 Census (McNairy Co., TN).
  Their thirteenth child, Robert F. Perkins, was born in 1850 in McNairy Co., TN, is in New Madrid Co., MO in the 1860 Census living with his sister Sarah Perkins Gibson, is in Cape Girardeau Co., MO in the 1870 Census living with his sister Mary Perkins Tooke and in Stoddard Co., MO in the 1880 Census with a wife and daughter. He is unaccounted for after the 1880 Census.
