Note: YORK PA, 2011 Rev. David Allen Sholes, Sr. 68, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehab Center, York, PA. David was born in Berwick Hospital, September 15, 1942, to the late Rev. Leroy K. Sholes, Jr, and Ruth Helen Swarts Sholes. He was a member of the Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene and a graduate of Messiah College. He was a Veteran of the US Marine Corps and of the Vietnam War. David was a minister with the United Methodist Church of Central PA and the Plymouth Brethren Church in Des Moines, IA, He was a Chaplain to the Police of the city of Des Moines, Iowa, and minister with the York Rescue Mission and the Water Street Rescue Mission of Lancaster. David is survived by his son David Allen Sholes, Jr, and wife Kristy Shields Sholes and grandchildren Genesis and Clay Sholes. A daughter Heidi Lee Norbeck and grandchildren, Matthew and Christopher Armstrong, Ashley Armstrong and husband, Chancy Hartzell and great-grandson, Chadwick. He is also survived by three sisters, Constance (Sholes) Oberholser of Mechanicsburg, Carol (Sholes) Peer of Columbus, OH, Judith (Sholes) Swartz of Millerstown; and three uncles, Jesse Sholes of Williamsport, PA, David Fisher of Aurora, IL, and Paul Moore of Newton Falls, OH Following cremation, a memorial service was held Wednesday, July 6 at 10:00 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E Market Street, York. Officiating was David Sholes, Jr, and grandson Matthew Armstrong. A private family burial was held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Friday July 8, at 3:00 p.m .. by CLSO == <b>Rev. David A.
