Not knowing that Scott descends from Lt. Philip Crewe through a twisted family line, he is a mirrored image of the evil spirit who has plagued Avenwell Bluffs since his death.
Assuming that their image is a coincidence, only Philip feels the true connection, and watches in amusement, and then horror, as he sees the young man take on his wicked traits as he becomes a man.
