"United States Census, 1880," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M8SG-WMB : 16 July 2017), Isaac Platt, Bloom, Scioto, Ohio, United States; citing enumeration district ED 159, sheet 20C, NARA microfilm publication T9 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.), FHL microfilm 1,255,064.

  PARENTS:

The birth month and year of Isaac and Eleanor Martin is from the 1900 Lawrence County, Ohio census. "United States Census, 1900," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MMDC-GTC : accessed 26 January 2020), Isaac Platt, Upper Township Coal Grove village, Lawrence, Ohio, United States; citing enumeration district (ED) 80, sheet 11B, family 223, NARA microfilm publication T623 (Washington, D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, 1972.); FHL microfilm 1,241,292.
The source for the 1861 marriage of Eleanor Martin to Isaac Platt is the Lawrence County, Ohio Marriage book 7, page 109. The source for the death and burial dates and locations for Ellen Platt is her obituary in the Ironton Register, Aug 2, 1906. The 1900 census states that Ellen Platt had given birth to 12 children but that in 1900 only 9 were alive.

There is a discrepancy between the name Eleanor Martin, by which she was known on the 1850 and 1860 census living under the roof of her father William, and the name Ellen Martin on the marriage certificate. To assure this was the same woman a search was made of the Lawrence, Gallia, and Scioto County census' for 1850 and 1860, looking for an Ellen Martin under another family. None was found. The marriage certificate has a large "John Hancock" signature showing "Wm. Martin" (her father) as a witness. A search was also made for any other William Martins in those counties, and only one came up, who had no children named Ellen on the 1850 and 1860 census records. The signature is obviously that of Eleanors/Ellen's father, William Martin of Lawrence Township. Further evidence that Eleanor and Ellen are the same person is the presence of a 9 month old Josephine Martin on the 1860 census, living in the same house as William Martin and daughter, Eleanor. This Josephine Martin, born abt. 1859, is the oldest child of Ellen and Isaac Platt on the 1870 and 1880 census. On these latter census records she is listed as Josephine Platt. As the marriage between Ellen and Isaac did not occur until 1861 and Josephine was born abt. 1859, it is assumed she was illegitimate or the years are off. Of further interest is that on the 1860 Lawrence County census (before the marriage of Ellen and Isaac, and after the birth of Josephine) there is a Platt family living exactly next door to William Martin's family which includes a 19 year old son, Isaac Platt. Source: 1860 Lawrence County, Ohio census, Lawrence Twp. pgs. 39a and 39b. Based on this strong circumstantial evidence, I have connected the Eleanor Martin, daughter of William Martin, of the 1850 and 1860 census to Ellen Martin and Isaac Platt of the 1861 marriage certificate.
If the Death Certificate of Josephine and the Lawrence County Marriage records for Eleanor and Isaac, both cited herein, are to be believed then the first two children were born prior to marriage.

The source for the date of birth, death and burial and locations, as well as name of spouse for Emma Platt is her Ohio State Death Certificate. The source for the middle name of Emma is from Lawrence County, Ohio Births 1868-1938.

The source for the marriage information between Emma Platt and Alva Casey, and the parents of Alva is from Marriage Record no. 392 from the Probate Court, Lawrence County, Ohio. Emma Platt Casey was either widowed or divorced, and at the time of her death, according to her Ohio State Death Certificate, was the wife of Roy Dillon. "Ohio, Deaths,1908-1953," index and images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XZ56-LV4: accessed 14 Sep 2014), Emma Dillon, 12 Feb 1942; citing Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, reference fn 9140; FHL microfilm 2023981. No record has been found for the marriage to Roy Dillon.

The source for the date of birth, death and burial and locations for Isaac Dow Platt is his Ohio State Death certificate.

The source for the marriage information between Susan Platt and Charles Hill and the parents of Charles is from Marriage Record no. 273 from the Probate Court, Lawrence County, Ohio.
Alice appears as Alice M on the 1870 census and Misha A on the 1880 census. This is the source for her name as Alice Misha Platt. The source for Alice's marriage to Edward Riddlebarger is "Ohio, County Marriages, 1789-1997," index and images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XD4S-ZN5 : accessed 15 Sep 2014), Edward Riddlebarger and Alice Platt, 22 Sep 1891; citing Lawrence, Ohio, United States, reference Vol. 15, p 526, no 2; FHL microfilm 317721.
A further source is the Ohio State Death Certificate Mischa Alice Riddlebarger, which lists her husband as Edward Riddlebarger and her parents as Isaac Platt and Helen Johnson. The maiden name of Helen is an error of the informant as it is Martin on all other records. "Ohio, Deaths, 1908-1953," index and images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/X6FJ-LZK : accessed 15 Sep 2014), Mischa Alice Riddlebarger, 06 Jul 1945; citing , reference certificate; FHL microfilm 2372580.
A similar mistake occurs with Helen's maiden name on the Ohio State Death certificate of Alice's brother, Lemuel Platt. There Helen was called Helen Riddlebarger, which was the maiden name of Lemuel's wife, not his mother's. This is the source for the death and burial information on Lemuel.
