Note: s the obituary of Sarah's father, Robert Rutman, in which she is listed as 'Sara, wife of Clarence Thomas, of Egg Harbor, New Jersey. ' Allentown Morning Call, Aug 21, 1963, p. 31
There is a Clarence and Edith Thomas on the 1930 and 1940 census of the right age and birthplace, but without more documentation I cannot determine with any certainty if this is the same Clarence and 'Sara' Edith. The same family (Sarah Edith listed as Edith) appears ten years later in another Pennsylvania county Source Citation: Year: 1940; Census Place: Kulpmont, Northumberland, Pennsylvania; Roll: T627_3595; Page: 7A; Enumeration District: 49-26.
There are SS Death Index records for both a Clarence Thomas and Edith Thomas who died in 1985 and 1975 respectively in Summit County, Pennsylvania. Edith's birth is listed as 11 Sept 1907 which is in conflict with the birth and baptism record listed in the digital file sent by genealogist Dick Musselman with her dates extracted from the Salem United Church of Christ in Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, in possession of Neil Rutman (2012). While these SS Death Index records present the most likely sources of death for this couple, it is due to the conflict of birth information for Edith that I withhold connecting them.
