The source for the middle name of Evan is his listing in the 1910 census as Evan (age 11), the 1930 census as Evan R (age 31), and the 1920 census as Robert E (age 21). This is obviously the same person, thus the middle name for Evan is Robert.

His obituary from the Huntington, West Virginia newspaper from 20 February, 1936 also implies he was single. A moderately extensive search was made in 2014 for his marriage history without success, but the lack of a pre 1942 marriage does not preclude a later one.
Elsie may have never married. She is listed as single on the 1920 and 1930 census, and referred to as Miss Elsie Crawford in the 1936 obituary of her brother, Robert Evan in the Huntington, West Virginia 20 February, 1936 newspaper. A moderately extensive search was made in 2014 for her marriage record without success, but the lack of records at this point does not preclude a later marriage.
