a. Note:   r generated 'hints' on Ancestry.com for the family of Matthew Scott and wife Emma on the 1900, 1920, and 1930 New Mexico census records. While the data for Emma Scott - birth location and year- matched that of Emma Crawford, the maiden name is never on the census. A subsequent investigation was made of three of the children- Inez, Vivian, and Clifford- listed on the 1900 census and their death records in New Mexico to ascertain the maiden name of the mother, Emma, born in Ohio.
