Note: 880 Northampton County, Pennsylvania census record. "United States Census, 1880," database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MWN5-M7D : 16 July 2017), William Rutman, Allen, Northampton, Pennsylvania, United States; citing enumeration district ED 58, sheet 189D, NARA microfilm publication T9 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.), roll 1160; FHL microfilm 1,255,160. The source for the birth, death, and burial of William's wife is from the death records of the Salem United Church of Christ in Catasauqua, Pennsylvania. The death and burial date is confirmed on her headstone in the Greenwood cemetery in Howerton, Northampton, Pennsylvania. She is listed as Jennie in the 1880 census cited above and Martha M. J. Rutman on the headstone. The source for the child Lizzie Irene Rutman is a transcribed reading of the headstones in the Greenwood cemetery in Howerton. Lizzie Irene Rutman b. 24 Mar. 1881 d. 11 Nov. 1891 10-7-17 daughter of Wm. H. & Mary E. Rutman. Mary may be a nickname for Martha, though quite an uncommon one. William H was married to Jennie and listed with her in the same household on the 2 June 1880 census cited above. That is nine months prior to Lizzie Irene's birth. Had William H Rutman and Jennie divorced and he married another woman named Mary E. they would have had to be together on about 2 June 1880 to have a child in March of 1881. Further complication of the first name of William's wife as Mary is that the Pennsylvania State Death Certificate of his daughter Clara (see notes under Clara) give the mother's name as Mary Keller and father's name as William Rudman. The name on the headstone, Martha M. J. Rutman could be for Martha Mary Jennie Rutman, and that is the first name I have given her. Another source for the death of Martha Mary Jennie and William H are their headstones in the Greenwood cemetery. The inscription on the photo of her headstone is Martha M. J. Rutman.
