Note: eichert, and Reichard in documents. The source for the reconstruction of the Owen Reichart family is the 1880 and 1900 Lehigh County, Pennsylvania census'. On the 1880 census daughter Maria L appears as a 7 month old infant. Source Citation: Year: 1880; Census Place: Fullerton, Lehigh, Pennsylvania; Roll: 1147; Family History Film: 1255147; Page: 571C; Enumeration District: 204; Image: 0606. Owen and Amanda appear on the 1900 Lehigh County census under 'Owne Reither', a terrible job of mistranscription. Maria is not present but Eva V, born 1885, is the only child in the house. This is the source for the 1868 marriage year of Owen and Amanda. Source Citation: Year: 1900; Census Place: Whitehall, Lehigh, Pennsylvania; Roll: 1430; Page: 10B; Enumeration District: 0091; FHL microfilm: 1241430. CHILDREN: It is interesting to note that the 1900 census cited above states that Amanda was the mother of one child with one child living in 1900, and the 1910 census cited above records that Amanda was the mother of two children with one living in 1910. Based on her age she would not have had a child between 1900 and 1920, and the discrepancy is probably a clerical error. Since we have record of both Maria And Eva, it is probable that Amanda had two children. Unmarried Maria's 'bef. 1896' death is based on an article from the Allentown Leader of 3 Aug 1896 in which a party for Mrs. Owen Reichart was described and all the guests, including daughter Eva, were listed. Maria's name was not among them. In the Allentown Leader of 9 Mar 1897 a party given in honor of Eva Reichart's 12th birthday was reported with a long list of guests in attendance, which included her parents. Again, Maria's name was not on the list. There is a news paper article about a daughter of Owen Reichert, Eva, eloping with a soldier that puts this Pennsylvania family in Vancouver WA. Edgar Miller is a barber in 1910 and living with his wife Eva. When they eloped he was stationed at Ft Laramie WY: Here is the complete article from Genealogy Bank PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER AUGUST 9, 1909 PAGE 3 Jilts student for Soldier- Fiancee of Embryo Minister Elopes with Schoolday Sweetheart Special to the Inquirer Allentown, Pa., August 8. -Upsetting all the plans which her family had made for her to marry a theological student, Miss Eva Reichart, daughter of Owen Reichart of Fullerton, and a teacher in the public schools of Lehigh County, last week married a schoolday sweetheart in the person of Edgar Miller, a private in the regular army, stationed at Ft. Laramie, Wyoming. Miss Reichart is a decidedly talented and pretty young woman, and is prominent socially. Years ago, she went to school with Miller, and they plighted their troth, but as years went on, it appeared their romance had dissolved in the mist of time. Miss Reichart became engaged to a prospective minister, who will be engaged next June. Last week, however, she left home, ostensibly to visit a friend at Greenville. Last week her parents received a telegram from New York, announcing her marriage to Miller. Edgar Miller and Eva are also living in the Vancouver First Ward near parents Owen and Amanda on the 1910 census. This census is the source for the year of their marriage, and the birth year and state of nativity for Edgar. Source Citation: Year: 1910; Census Place: Vancouver Ward 1, Clark, Washington; Roll: T624_1655; Page: 4B; Enumeration District: 0065; FHL microfilm: 1375668. The Pennsylvania State Death Certificate no. 58935 for Eva V Reichert Stapp is the source for her exact birth, death and burial dates and location. Her parents are listed as Owen Reichert and Amanda Musick. The following obituary gives a more detailed account of Eva's marital history: Obit published in Reading Eagle 9 July 1951 "Mrs. Claude B Stapp" "Eva U (Reichard) Stapp, 66, wife of Claude B Stapp, 203 Penn St, died last night in St Joseph's Hospital. She resided in Pottstown for 20 years before moving to Reading. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Mt. Penn, and was a music teacher. "She was a native of Catasauqua, a daughter of the late Owen and Amanda (Musich) Reichard. Surviving are her husband, one son, Edgar O Miller, of Mt Penn, and two grandchildren....burial...Mickleys Church Cemetery, Lehigh County." With thanks to the FAG creator. Buried Saint John's Union Cemetery in Mickleys. Misspellings are "as found" in the original. The source for the death and burial information for Amanda Musick Reichert is her Pennsylvania State Death Certificate no. 117958. Further information about the parents of Owen Reichert, his and Amanda's birthdates are from the Musick Family chart kept with the manuscript 'Kohl Family and Allied lines of Pennsylvania' by Helen Wittmann Kohl, GEN KO3:1, held in the Pennsylvania Genealogical Society in Philadelphia. Further information is from the 1910 Washington census, Source Citation: Year: 1910; Census Place: Vancouver Ward 1, Clark, Washington; Roll: T624_1655; Page: 15B; Enumeration District: 0065; FHL microfilm: 1375668. This is the source for the month and year of Owen and Amanda's births. Owen and Amanda are living Edward S Fletcher and wife Nellie. Owen and Amanda are erroneously listed as father and mother in law to Edward, implying that Nellie is their daughter. This is a serious clerical error since upon researching Nellie Fletcher we find from her obituary that her maiden name was Deaton, that she had a completely different set of parents from Owen and Amanda. For proof that Nellie is not the Reichert's daughter I found the obituary of Edward and Nellie Fletcher's documented son, Norman: Daily Astorian, The (Astoria, OR) - Tuesday, January 13, 2004 "Deceased Name: Norman Lee Fletcher Norman Lee Fletcher Seaside resident, 89 Norman Lee Fletcher, 89, of Seaside, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 in Warrenton. Mr. Fletcher was born Jan. 31, 1914 in Portland to Edward Fletcher and Mary Ellen Deaton Fletcher. He graduated from Jefferson High School and attended the University of Oregon. Mr. Fletcher moved to Seaside in 1976. Family members say he was a great conversationalist and was known for his ability to remember things. He never married. Mr. Fletcher is survived by a first cousin and his wife, David and Margaret Shaeffer of Snohomish, Wash. A funeral is 10 a.m. Friday at Hughes-Ransom Mortuary Chapel in Seaside. Burial at Rose City Cemetery in Portland is private. Memorial contributions may be made to Lower Columbia Hospice or Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, in care of Hughes-Ransom Cremation & Mortuaries, 220 N. Hollady Drive, Seaside, OR." I then looked at the 1900 census for a Mary E DEATON in OR. Her mother is is a widow with 4 children. As a supplement here are some notes on the 1910 Washington census cited above on which Owen and Amanda are found: Further information is from the 1910 Washington census, Source Citation: Year: 1910; Census Place: Vancouver Ward 1, Clark, Washington; Roll: T624_1655; Page: 15B; Enumeration District: 0065; FHL microfilm: 1375668.
