a. Note:   try in the 1922 obituary of James Ludwig in which his daughter Hester is listed as Hester Walker of Amesbury, Massachusetts. She and Alfred were subsequently found on the 1900 and 1920 Massachusetts census, living in Amesbury. The 1900 census report is the source of the birth date and place of Alfred Walker, and the date of their marriage. As they were living with Alfred's aging parents, this census report is also the source of the information for their birth and marriage dates and places.
