Here are excerpts from the contents of his will and that of his first wife, Barbara Croman:
Northampton Co Will Book 7-121 JACOB DEAL/DEAHL of Bushkill Twp, cordwainer To my 7 children begotten by my last wife, 7 equal shares: Son George Deal; children of daughter Mary; son Samuel Deal; dau Lena m. Henry Knecht; dau Sarah m. Michael Andrew; dau Caty m. Henry Comfer; son Jacob Deal the omission of my three children by my first wife, that is, John Deal, Elizabeth, m. John Groman, and Susanna, widow of Samuel Groman, decased, have had their full shares in my lifetime. Names son-in-law Henry Knecht as executor. Signed 26 JAN 1852 Jacob Deal. Witnesses: Lewis Miche & Maria N. Patrick, Proved 29 NOV 1854.

To grandchild Hannah Croman, my quilt, one coverlet, two flat irons & my weaving apparel, To dau Susanna Croman & grandchild Hannah Croman in equal shares the woolwheel $10 to Susanna amount coming to me from my son John Diehl for my lots divided into 3 shares: one to son John Diehl, one to dau Susanna Croman and one to 3 grandchildren, viz: Elias Croman, Hanna Croman, Elizabeth Croman. Son John Diehl as executor, Witn: Wm B. Kaemmer & Johannes Bergey.
In the absence of finding Elizabeth and John as a couple on the 1850 census I have given John the illogical, but necessary in the absence of documentation, 'bef. 1834' birth year, which is the latest he could have been born to be of age to be called a spouse of Elizabeth on the 1852 will mentioned above.
There is a chance that the couple elsewhere on this family tree, John Groman born 1794 and Susannah/Anna Diehl born 1797, are the same couple as this John Groman born 'bef 1834' and Anna Elizabeth Diehl, born 1793. See notes on their pages for inconclusive support of this theory.
