PARENTS:
Source for the middle initial L. in Lafayette's name is the 1890 Civil War Veteran's Schedule. The sources for the death of Lafayette are the Greenwood Cemetery burial records, Howerton, PA. and death record in Northampton County, Pennsyvania. The latter record has him born in Bushkill township and not Plainfield, which is where the 1850 census records his father living at the time of his birth. They are, however, only a few miles from each other.
Source of death for Catharine Knecht Ludwig is her death certificate from the Northampton County courthouse and obituary from the Allentown Morning Call, December 24, 1904.
The source for the first marriage of Catharine Knecht to John Kostenbader and their issue, Maranda Louisa, half sister to Henry and Lucilla Ludwig, is from "Knecht Family History" by Linda Klosek, Addendum, 1987 and confirmed by genealogical research performed by Richard Musselman at my request in the spring of 2010. This documentation is currently in my files.
