Additional sources are marriage records of the Wayne County courthouse, West Va. were also used and well as the marriage records, Cabell County courthouse, West Va. Information was also taken from cemetery stones, Wayne and Cabell Counties, and correspondence with Mrs Maurice Maxwell, geneologist, Council Bluffs, Iowa during the 1980's for birth and death dates of some of the children. The birthdates and death dates were confirmed and agreed upon by numerous Booten researchers on http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com.
Sadly, I was green when I began researching this family and did not itemize individuals pieces of data from the above cited sources.

CHILDREN:
The first three chlidren of Asa and Roxanna were born in Cabell County, Virginia, as Asa Botten resided in that county on the 1840 census. By the 1850 and 1860 census records he was in Wayne County, Virginia. Based on those records the last three children were born in Union, Wayne, Virginia. Without documentation at hand the middle children, Hester, Freelin, and Burwell were born in either Cabell or Wayne County depending on the year of Asa and Roxanna's relocation.

According to a letter written 3 Mar 2010 from William Spurlock of Huntingdon, West Virginia, son Burwell Booten died in the Civil War of Typhoid. Mr. Spurlock cited no source.
After an exhaustive search nothing has been found for Burwell Booten beyond the 1850 and 1860 Virginia census. After doing a search on the Virginia and national census records for a Burwell Booten of Virginia, born 1847, nothing turns up in 1870. A few Public Member Family Trees on Ancestry.com say, without source, that he died at age 13 in 1860.
