Note: ted with the computer generated 'hints' on Ancestry.com. The multiple computer generated hints on Ancestry connecting single individuals to later marriage relationships have ALWAYS been correct after researching them myself. I realize this is not the most scholarly way to connect individuals, but based on the success ratio, I have accepted this one. Subsequent confirmation of this marriage was finding Alvina with William Allen Bortz on the 1880, 1900, 1910 and 1920 Mercer County census records. Her husband is listed as Allen Bortz on her death Certificate. The sources for the birth month of William Allen and Alvina is Source Citation: Year: 1900; Census Place: West Salem, Mercer, Pennsylvania; Roll: 1441; Page: 6A; Enumeration District: 0170; FHL microfilm: 1241441. They appear on the 1870, 1880, 1900 and 1910 census records. There are small permutations to Alvina's name (Lavina, Elvira). William A Bortz is called variously William Allen, William A., Allen William, or Allen. All very inconsistent. The source for the death and burial of Alvina is her Pennsylvania State Death Certificate, no. 117566.
