We know Eliza lived until 1829 based on the following extract from a letter received from Dick Musselman in 2011:
"Occasionally in the 1820’s and more regularly in the 1830’s, the assessor was required to list “Poor Children.” These were children for whom the parent could not afford schooling costs. In 1820 Nicholas Musick was listed with one “Poor Child” between the ages of 5-12 years. From 1826 through 1829 Nicholas is listed with at least four additional children in this category. These included:
Eliza: b. abt.1816
Mary: b. abt.1817-1818
Sarah: b. abt.1819-1829
Thomas: b. abt.1822"
The Musick Family Chart from 'Kohl Family & Allied Lines of Pennsylvania, Helen Wittmann Kohl manuscript, Gen: KO3:1, Pennsylvania Genealogical Society, cited under the research notes of Nicholas and Catharine Musick lists the following children for this couple:
Sarah Ann, John, Katharine, Harriet, Mary, Thomas, Moses Jesse (see notes under parents) and finally 'dau. 1810-1820.'
Eliza is not even mentioned on this chart and would not be known if it had not been for finding her on several lists of 'Poor Children' of Nicholas and Catharine in Northampton County cited under the notes of her parents. The information on the chart for each of the other siblings (except Moses Jesse) was subsequently verified by further research. The fact that no records have been found for a marriage or death of Eliza, and that at the compiling of the chart she was lost to the collective memory of family members contributing information, suggests an early death.
