Notes
a. Note:   PARENTS: The source for the marriage of Orville Moore was typing his name in on a search for the 1900 census and finding two Orville Moores nationwide. One, while he lived in Ohio, the state of Orville's birth, was disqualified for not having the matching statistics. The Orville found in California, married to Ida E., was born in Ohio, in 1857. Orville on the 1870 and 1880 census of father Isaac Moore was born in 1858. The 1900 California census lists this Orville's parent's birthplaces as Virginia and Kentucky, which match perfectly with Isaac and Josephine's places of birth. It is on this basis that I have connected Orville Moore on the 1900 census in California with Orville Moore on the 1870 and 1880 census of Isaac Moore. On this document the father of Ida is listed as born in New Hampshire and her mother in Arkansas.

  Name: Orville Moore
 Gender: Male
 Marriage Date: 10 Aug 1889
Marriage Place: King, Washington, United States
 Spouse: Ida E Hughes
Eda's birthplace is listed as California on the 1900 California census, as per the notes under Orville Moore. However, her youngest son Raymond's listing on the 1920 Berkeley, California census lists father's birthplace as Ohio and mothers as IDAHO, and not California. While this Raymond has not been absolutely verified as the son of Orville and Eda Moore, his living in Oakland in 1920 which is next door to Berkeley, his town of the 1910 census, and being the correct age, make him a most likely candidate. Therefore, Eda's birthplace should be looked for in both states.
Further information to the above Idaho/California birthplace issue for Ida E. Hughes in San Francisco on the 1880 census in the home of her parents Samuel and Eunice. While her birthplace is listed as California, her two youngest sisters, Grace E. and Minnie, ARE listed as being born in Idaho. It is likely that Ida's son Raymond in the paragraph above mixed his mother's birthplace up with that of his aunts, and that Ida was born in California. This is the source for the names of Ida's parents and their age and nativity.   I possess a large PDF file prepared for me by the California Historical Society in 2015 in their attempt to discover the marriage and death of Raymond, a search which was unsuccessful. In the process, however, the file created contains much information about the family in San Luis Obispo, a possible separation of Orville and Ida (the Ida Moore cited in this file 'could' be another lady), newspaper articles about the conviction of Donald for forgery, and a possible connection that Raymond may have followed in Donald's footsteps. The California Historical Society's results are as follows with an extract from their e mail:
  "Dear Neil,
Because I've had issues sending the 22 June 1910 SF Call article (which you've probably seen) I'm sending you my working timeline on your Moore family.  It is just that -- a working timeline, I cut and past original items and make notes chronologically. You may have many of these things.  We've been looking for Raymond Moore and more information about Donald A. Moore.  They are pretty good at hiding. We can't find either on the California Death Index (1905-1997), or censuses later than 1920.
Let me try to answer a few of your questions:
 1. Does this mean we are finished with Raymond? If this were my family I'd never be finished -- or not at least until I had exhausted many more newspapers and followed each of his birth family members through their censuses and deaths and any news accounts about them. But, yes, we are finished with him. He's very hidden still.
 2. Is the Raymond Moore in San Quentin in the 1930's your Raymond Moore? Maybe.  My team doesn't see much that looks like Donald but then our siblings don't much look like us.  So we think you should follow every possible angle about this Raymond Moore. Does the Wesley middle name cross reference with anything you know?  Somehow I did not see the newspaper articles you sent about Raymond Moore -- I'm guessing they were similar to the one on my attached working timeline?
 3. It is usually a good idea to send for death certificates but these seem a little far fetched, however, if you have the budget, sure, see what they say.
 4. It appears that Orville and Ida separated around 1906, and Donald set out on his own. I'd look for divorces in newspapers -- but this is time consuming. Do you know more about what happened to her, or how Donald ended up in Utah?
 5. The Ray Moore and Raymond Moore on the California death index up to 1939 cannot be the Raymond Wesley Moore who was in San Quentin -- he wasn't paroled until later.
 6.  Do you know any of the middle names or initials? That might help.
Let me know if any of this is useful.
  regards, Lavinia Schwarz"
  CHILDREN:
The addition of son Raymond and Orville's listing as widowed comes from the 1910 California census. Source Citation: Year: 1910; Census Place: Berkeley, Alameda, California; Roll: T624_72; Page: 1A; Enumeration District: 0063; FHL microfilm: 1374085.
The date of birth for Raymond as abt. 1902 stems from the inability to read his age on the 1910 census. It could be either 7 or 9 years old, making his approximate birth year either 1901 or 1903.
There is no record of Orville Moore on the 1920 California census but there is a Raymond Moore listed in Oakland (next door to Berkeley of the 1910 census), age 19, living alone. This could be the same Raymond, although while his father's birthplace is listed as Ohio his mother's is listed as Idaho, and not California as per the 1900 census.
